TransEd Announces Delay in Valley Line Southeast Service Commencement

August 10, 2022 – TransEd CEO Ronald Joncas announced with deep regret that the Valley Line Southeast LRT will not be opening in Summer 2022. During recent inspections conducted by the City and TransEd, cracks were found in some of the piers supporting the elevated LRT tracks. As soon as the cracks were found, TransEd engineering teams started the preliminary root cause analysis. The investigation is ongoing however it appears some piers require strengthening. TransEd and its construction experts, in partnership with the City, are currently exploring options to Strengthen the piers and working collaboratively to determine the additional construction work necessary. Unfortunately, the LRT service commencement will be delayed. Further updates will be provided as soon as possible.

Ronald Joncas also assured the public that safety is TransEd’s top priority, and no stone would be left unturned to ensure high quality and safe service that can last decades.
