Safety Reminder for Summer Festival Season

The Summer festival season is upon us and Edmontonians are looking forward to attending the various events that will be happening around the city. However, with trains being tested and moving along the tracks, we remind everyone how important it is to keep safe while attending any event.

After witnessing a two-year pause to the summer activities due to the pandemic, people in the city will finally get to attend the summer festivities this year. A quick reminder that the Valley Line Southeast LRT does not have crossing arms, gates, or bells at intersections. To safely cross, use a crosswalk, and wait for the pedestrian lights to indicate that it is safe to do so.

If your event venue is near the tracks or a train platform, please ensure you enter and exit the venue with utmost care. Make sure that you are only using the designated entrance and exit for your event.

If you see the tracks, be attentive and expect a train. Look both ways even when crossing the pedestrian crosswalks.

Enjoy the summer and the festivals; but ensure you follow the road signs and remain safe!
