
Whitemud Rehabilitation Closures
UPDATE – April 16, 2020 – This work has been rescheduled to begin May 4, 2020.
March 6, 2020 – Starting on or around April 6, 2020, construction to rehabilitate the Whitemud Overpass on 75/66 Street will begin. This work will occur in two phases during peak, off-peak, and overnight hours and is expected to last until Fall.
To accommodate this work, the public will be impacted in the following areas:
Phase One
On 75 Street, north of the Whitemud Overpass:
- Traffic will be shifted to the east side of 75 St.
- One southbound dedicated left turn lane and one southbound dedicated right turn lane will be closed.
On the Whitemud Overpass:
- Traffic will be shifted to the east side of the overpass.
- Two southbound dedicated left turn lanes and two northbound dedicated left turn lanes will be closed.
On 66 St, south of the Whitemud Overpass:
- Traffic will be shifted to the east side of 66 St.
- One northbound dedicated left turn lane and one northbound dedicated right turn lane will be closed.
Whitemud Westbound Off-Ramp
- Traffic will be shifted to the south side of the ramp.
- One westbound dedicated left turn lane and one westbound dedicated right turn lane will be closed.
Whitemud Westbound On-Ramp
- Traffic will be shifted to the south side of the ramp.
- One westbound through lane will be closed.
Whitemud Eastbound Off-Ramp
- Traffic will be shifted to the south side of the ramp.
- One eastbound dedicated right turn lane and one eastbound dedicated left turn lane will be closed.
Whitemud Eastbound On-Ramp
- Traffic will be shifted to the south side of the ramp.
- One eastbound through lane will be closed.
*Pedestrian access will vary throughout this closure.
Watch for details on Phase Two beginning this Summer.
There will be noise associated with the work. TransEd is committed to following all City of Edmonton bylaws and regulations and has obtained an overnight roadwork permit so that work can take place during nighttime hours in order to minimize major daytime traffic disruptions. (City of Edmonton Bylaw C14600).
During this time please watch for, and observe, all traffic detours and direction of construction personnel. We appreciate your patience as we build the Valley Line LRT.
