Night-Time Closures at 93 Avenue and 85 Street

Noise, Notice, Vehicle

August 14, 2020 – On or about August 26, 2020, EPCOR will be performing utilities work north of Holyrood Stop on 85 Street near 93 Avenue.  This work will take place overnight between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. and is expected to last three nights.  To accommodate this work, one northbound lane on 85 Street will be closed.

This work will involve coring the road and hydrovacing these utilities.  Once that is completed, the team will be able to directional drill under the road to pull the utilities across.  Hydrovacs can be quite loud but they are the best tool for safe excavation.  TransEd is aware that overnight noise is disruptive and has taken several noise mitigation actions in advance of this work.

To accommodate this work, the public will be impacted in the following areas:

  • One northbound lane on 85 Street between 90 Avenue and 93 Avenue will be closed.
  • There will be noise and flashing lights while this work is completed.
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained.

During this time please watch for, and observe, all traffic detours and direction of construction personnel.

TransEd is committed to following all City of Edmonton bylaws and regulations and will obtain an overnight roadwork permit so that work can take place during nighttime hours in order to minimize major daytime traffic disruptions. *City of Edmonton Bylaw C14600.
