
Major Lane Closure – Whitemud Overpass
UPDATE: March 23, 2020 – This work has been rescheduled to occur on March 31 only, however, the work hours have changed to 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
March 6, 2020 – Starting on or around March 24, 2020, TransEd will be pouring concrete approach slabs for the first section of the pedestrian bridge on 66/75 Street will be installed over Whitemud Drive. Two southbound lanes on the Whitemud Overpass will be closed from approximately 11:00p.m. to 4:00a.m. and flaggers will be on site to assist traffic as required.
This work will be repeated on or around March 31, 2020 for the second and final concrete approach slab for the pedestrian bridge span. Traffic will follow the same detour described above.
These closures will not affect the on or off ramps.
To accommodate this work, the public will be impacted in the following areas:
- Overnight closure of two southbound lanes on the Whitemud Overpass on March 24 and 31.
- Overnight noise
- Flaggers will be on hand to assist with traffic flow.
- Pedestrian access will be maintained.
- ETS bus routes will be maintained.
TransEd is committed to following all City of Edmonton bylaws and regulations and has obtained an overnight roadwork permit so that work can take place during nighttime hours in order to minimize major daytime traffic disruptions. (City of Edmonton Bylaw C14600).
Vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic disruptions will vary by location. During this time please watch for, and observe, all traffic detours and direction of construction personnel. We appreciate your patience as we build the Valley Line LRT.
