Major Lane Closure, 102 Avenue from 95 Street to 96 Street

Sidewalk, Vehicle

EDMONTON, AB – April 27, 2018 – Starting on or around May 4, 2018, there will be a full closure of 102 Avenue, from 95 Street to 96 Street, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily. This closure is to accommodate overnight drainage work and will last for approximately one week.

Vehicle traffic will be detoured through the alley behind the Chinese Elders Mansion to allow for pick-up and drop off.

During daytime hours, a single eastbound lane along 102 Avenue, between 95 Street and 96 Street will be available.

Pedestrian access to store fronts and emergency exits of the adjacent buildings will be maintained at all times. Pedestrians will be rerouted with wayfinding and detour signs.

Walkways, including temporary crosswalks, will be protected from construction activities with barricades and construction fencing.  Pedestrian detours will be updated via on-site signage as construction progresses.

This drainage work is expected to be loudest for the first few nights as crews break through concrete to reach underground pipes. Once crews have broken through the concrete, they will be working on the drainage system below ground, which is expected to be much quieter.

TransEd is committed to following all City of Edmonton bylaws and regulations and has obtained an overnight roadwork permit so that work can take place during nighttime hours in order to minimize major daytime traffic disruptions. *City of Edmonton Bylaw C14600.
