Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) Train Testing and Safety
June 23 – Starting on or about Monday, June 29 Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) train testing will be in progress on the new LRT tracks along 66 Street, between 38 Avenue and 51 Avenue, from 10 am to 1 pm. The train will be pushed/pulled by the Mobile Recovery Vehicle from the Gerry Wright Operations and Maintenance Facility (at 75 Street and 51 Avenue) and will return to the facility after testing.
As construction advances, train testing will occur on a more regular basis. This process is to ensure that all elements of the system are performing to required safety standards before opening to the public.
During this time, the train will not be powered. There will be minimal traffic disruption; occasional train crossings at roadways/intersections that cross the LRT tracks. Flaggers will be on-site where applicable.
FOR YOUR SAFETY:
● Always stay alert while on the road. Although the train testing might be a distraction please be mindful of your surroundings and other road users.
● Only use the designated pedestrian walkways, please stay off tracks. Only cross at marked intersections or when permitted by a flag person.
Thank you for your understanding and patience as the project progresses.
