Connors Road, 83 Street – Lane Closures

Vehicle

Construction is underway on the 13.1 kilometre southeast leg of the Valley Line LRT. Starting the week of September 19 there will be disruptions to traffic in areas of Connors Road and along 83 Street.

Connors Road

On or around September 19, there will be a single lane closure along Connors Road, from 98 Avenue to 95 Street. The purpose of this lane closure is to accommodate tree removal in advance of geo-technical testing, in support of the construction of retaining walls and supports.

During the closure period, the southbound right lane will be closed, requiring southbound traffic to stay to the left.

83 Street

On or around September 19, there will be periodic lane closures along 83 Street, from Argyll Road on the south end, to 85 Street and 92A Avenue on the north end of the route.

The periodic lane closures that start at 83 Street and Argyll Road will run south through the Bonnie Doon traffic circle, (where 83 Street becomes 85 Street south of the circle) – to 92A Avenue.

The partial lane closures along 83 Street will accommodate the movement of equipment as work progresses from south to north, and will occur until September 30, 2016.

These closures are to accommodate tree removal, which is being done to prepare for:

  • utilities relocation
  • the construction of a multi use path
  • transit and roadways right of way.

This work will take place Monday to Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. During construction, please watch for, and observe, all traffic detours and instructions of work crews. Please consider alternative routes.
