83 Street Overnight Work

Noise, Notice, Vehicle

August 7, 2020 – Crews are currently performing nighttime earthworks on 83 Street between Argyll Road and 82 Avenue.  This work includes but is not limited to concrete removals, trackbed tie-ins, gravel placement, and concrete curb reconstruction. This work will take place overnight between 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and is expected to last approximately six weeks. To accommodate this work, there will be alternating lane closures on both the southbound and northbound lanes on 83 Street between Argyll Road and 82 Avenue.  Flaggers will be on hand to assist motorists.

There will be noise associated with this work. In order to not interrupt traffic during the day, crews will have to perform all or some of this work during night hours. TransEd is aware that overnight noise is disruptive and has taken several noise mitigation actions in advance of this work such as the installation of noise blankets, where possible, ahead of the work beginning and reducing the use of back up alarms.

TransEd would like to apologize for our oversight in not notifying area residents prior to the work commencing.

To accommodate this work, the public will be impacted in the following areas:

  • Alternating lane closures on 83 Street from Argyll Road to 82.
  • There will be noise associated with this work.
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained.

During this time please watch for, and follow, all traffic detours and direction of construction personnel.

TransEd is committed to following all City of Edmonton bylaws and regulations and has obtained an overnight roadwork permit so that work can take place during nighttime hours in order to minimize major daytime traffic disruptions. *City of Edmonton Bylaw C14600.

We ask for your understanding and patience as construction progresses.
