83 Street Night Work

Noise, Notice, Sidewalk, Vehicle

EDMONTON, AB – October 21, 2019 – Starting on or about October 28, 2019, crews will be working in the northbound lane south of the intersection at 76 Avenue and 83 Street overnight for a few hours for one night only from 9:00 p.m.to 12:00 a.m. This work is to accommodate utilities work and the installation of a signal pole at that location.  To accommodate this, northbound traffic will be shifted to the west lane by flaggers.

To accommodate this work, the public will be impacted in the following areas:

  • Overnight work on 83 Street and 76 Avenue.
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained.
  • Flaggers will be on hand to assist traffic.

During this time please watch for, and follow, all traffic detours and direction of construction personnel.

There will be hydrovacing associated with this work. A hydrovac is a machine that allows crews to safely excavate around pipes and gas lines without the danger of hitting them. Hydrovacs can be quite loud but they are the best tool for safe excavation.

TransEd is committed to following all City of Edmonton bylaws and regulations and will obtain an overnight roadwork permit so that work can take place during nighttime hours in order to minimize major daytime traffic disruptions. *City of Edmonton Bylaw C14600.
