Valley Line LRT – Minor Lane Reduction on 66 Street

Noise, Notice, Vehicle

EDMONTON, AB – August 20, 2019 – Starting on or around August 26, 2019, traffic along 66 Street up to Whitemud Drive will be reduced to one lane in each direction. This lane reduction is to accommodate drainage work and will take place during nighttime hours (9:00pm to 6:00am)

This night time lane reduction is expected to last for two weeks.

To accommodate this work, the public will be impacted in the following areas:

  • Traffic on 66 St will be shifted to the west side of the road.
  • One lane in each direction will be maintained.
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained.

There will be noise associated with the work. Drainage work means that the first couple of days are going to be the loudest. Crews will have to break through the concrete in order to get to the pipes underground. Once the first few days are over and crews have broken through the concrete, the work is much quieter as crews will be working on the drainage.

TransEd is committed to following all City of Edmonton bylaws and regulations, and has obtained an overnight roadwork permit so that work can take place during nighttime hours in order to minimize major daytime traffic disruptions. (City of Edmonton Bylaw C14600).

During this time please watch for, and observe, all traffic detours and direction of construction personnel. We appreciate your patience as we build the Valley Line LRT.
