Sidewalk Closure on 83 Street
September 3, 2020 – Starting on or around September 10, crews will be doing spot repairs on the sidewalks along 83 Street from 69 Avenue to 81 Avenue on both sides of the street. Crews will be starting at 69 Avenue and working north to 81 Avenue. There may be intermittent lane closures in areas where crews need more space to work.
This work will take place overnight between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. and will last for approximately two weeks.
These sidewalks are being re-poured to repair damages or deficiencies caused since they were originally built. Sidewalks will be intermittently closed overnight in sections as crews work. Please watch for and observe all construction signage and personnel.
There will be noise associated with this work as crews will have to saw cut and break through the existing concrete. In order to not interrupt traffic during the day, crews will have to perform all of this work during night hours. As much as possible, the noisiest work will be completed earlier in the night.
To accommodate this work, the public will be impacted in the following areas:
- Sections of sidewalks on 83 Street between 69 Avenue and 81 Avenue will be removed and replaced.
- There will be noise associated with this work, specifically the breaking of concrete. As much as possible, the noisiest work will be done earlier in the night.
Vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic disruptions will vary by location. During this time please watch for, and observe, all traffic detours and direction of construction personnel.
TransEd is committed to following all City of Edmonton bylaws and regulations and will obtain an overnight roadwork permit so that work can take place during nighttime hours in order to minimize major daytime traffic disruptions. *City of Edmonton Bylaw C14600.
