Overnight Paving on 83 Street

Noise, Notice, Vehicle

September 9, 2020 – Starting on or around September 14, crews will begin final paving on 83 Street between Argyll Road and 82 Avenue.  Crews will be starting at Argyll Road and work northward to 82 Avenue. Once that lane is completed, they will repeat the process southward from 82 Avenue to Argyll Road.  Crews will first close the side streets and pave those to match up with the mainline of 83 Street and then close the northbound then southbound lanes to tie it in together.

This work will take place overnight between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. and will last for approximately one week.

There will be noise associated with this work.  Specifically, the sound of heavy equipment (engine noises), back up alarms when necessary, and pavement grinding.  In order to not interrupt traffic during the day, crews will have to perform all of this work during night hours. As much as possible, the noisiest work will be completed earlier in the night.

To accommodate this work, the public will be impacted in the following areas:

  • Intermittent overnight closures of the side streets off 83 Street September 14 & 15*
  • Full overnight closure of the Northbound lane on 83 Street between Argyll Road and 82 Avenue September 16 & 17*
  • Full overnight closure of the Southbound lane on 83 Street between 82 Avenue and Argyll Road September 18 & 19*
  • There will be noise associated with this work.

*dates are approximate.

Vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic disruptions will vary by location. During this time please watch for, and observe, all traffic detours and direction of construction personnel.

TransEd is committed to following all City of Edmonton bylaws and regulations and will obtain an overnight roadwork permit so that work can take place during nighttime hours in order to minimize major daytime traffic disruptions. *City of Edmonton Bylaw C14600.
