Overnight Lanes Closures for Utilities Work – 83 Street Between Argyll Road and 76 Avenue
July 16, 2020 – Starting on or about July 23, 2020 EPCOR will be exposing conduit duct banks on 83 Street from Argyll Road to 76 Avenue. This overnight work will occur overnight, from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. To accommodate this work, the northbound lane will be closed to traffic between Argyll Road and 76 Avenue. Flaggers will be on hand to assist motorists. This work is expected to last two nights.
There will be hydrovacing associated with this work. A hydrovac is a machine that allows crews to safely excavate around pipes and gas lines without the danger of hitting them. Hydrovacs can be quite loud but they are the best tool for safe excavation. TransEd is aware that overnight noise is disruptive and has taken several noise mitigation actions in advance of this work such as installing noise blankets ahead of the work beginning and reducing the use of back up alarms.
To accommodate this work, the public will be impacted in the following areas:
- Closure of the northbound lane on 83 Street from Argyll Road to 76 Avenue.
- There will be overnight noise associated with this work.
- Pedestrian access will be maintained.
- Flaggers will be on hand to assist traffic.
During this time please watch for, and follow, all traffic detours and direction of construction personnel.
TransEd is committed to following all City of Edmonton bylaws and regulations and has obtained an overnight roadwork permit so that work can take place during nighttime hours in order to minimize major daytime traffic disruptions. *City of Edmonton Bylaw C14600.
We ask for your understanding and patience as construction progresses.
