Nighttime work on 98 Avenue

Noise, Notice, Sidewalk, Vehicle

EDMONTON, AB – September 11, 2019 – On or about the evenings of September 19, 29, and nightly from October 9 through to October 25, 2019, the north lane on 98 Avenue between 96A Street and the Muttart Service Road will be closed in preparation for the installation of the elevated guideway span over 98 Avenue. This will only take place during nighttime hours (9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.).

There will be noise associated with this work. Specifically, on September 19 and 29, crews will be pouring concrete and the work from October 9 through to October 25 will involve earthworks with heavy equipment.  TransEd is aware that overnight noise is disruptive and has taken several noise mitigation actions in advance of this work and will endeavor to have the most disruptive work completed by midnight.

To accommodate this work, the public will be impacted in the following areas:

  • The outside westbound lane of 98 Avenue will be closed overnight. The inside westbound lane will remain open.
  • Flaggers will be on site to facilitate pedestrian access

TransEd is committed to following all City of Edmonton bylaws and regulations and has obtained an overnight roadwork permit so that work can take place during nighttime hours in order to minimize major daytime traffic disruptions. *City of Edmonton Bylaw C14600.

During this time please watch for, and observe, all traffic detours and direction of construction personnel. We appreciate your patience as we build the Valley Line LRT.
