February 26, 2020 – Starting on or around March 20, 2020, the first section of the pedestrian bridge on 66/75 Street will be installed over Whitemud Drive.   Traffic will be directed onto Whitemud off-ramps, in order to proceed eastbound and westbound.  This closure will occur overnight between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. and is expected to last one night. Should the activities not be completed Friday night, for reasons including but not limited to inclement weather, Saturday, March 21 will serve as the contingency date.

The second and final pedestrian bridge span is scheduled to be installed on or around Friday, March 27, 2020.  Traffic will follow the same detour described above and Saturday, March 28 will serve as the contingency date.

To accommodate this work, the public will be impacted in the following areas:

  • Overnight closure of Whitemud Drive near 66/75 Street on March 20 and 27.
  • Overnight noise
  • Flaggers and Edmonton Police Services will be on hand to assist with traffic flow.
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained.
  • ETS bus routes will be maintained.
  • To prepare for this work, crews will be moving jersey barriers during the day on March 20 and 27 so that they will be able to access the area.

TransEd is committed to following all City of Edmonton bylaws and regulations and has obtained an overnight roadwork permit so that work can take place during nighttime hours in order to minimize major daytime traffic disruptions. (City of Edmonton Bylaw C14600).

Vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic disruptions will vary by location. During this time please watch for, and observe, all traffic detours and direction of construction personnel. We appreciate your patience as we build the Valley Line LRT.
