
Major Lane Closure, 83 Street, between 76 Avenue and 69A Avenue
EDMONTON, AB – August 15, 2018 – Starting on or around August 28, 2018, inner lanes along 83 Street will be closed for drainage, duct banks, tracks and road works.
Once this work is complete, the lane configuration, with one lane travelling in each direction, will remain in place permanently.
83 Street (between 76 Avenue and 69A Avenue):
Traffic along 83 Street will maintain two lanes, one in each direction, between 76 Avenue and 69A Avenue.
- Pedestrians can use the permanent sidewalk on both east and west sides of 83 Street.
- Please visit https://www.edmonton.ca/ets/general-service-alerts.aspx for all ETS changes and updates.
73 Avenue and 83 Street intersection:
Right-in-right-out traffic configuration will be maintained for westbound and eastbound traffic at 73 Avenue and 83 Street. Please note, there are no left turns onto or off of 83 Street from 73 Avenue.
- A fully signalized intersection will be added during a later phase of work.
- Information signs will be used to direct traffic before approach to the intersection.
- Sidewalks located on the north and south sides of 73 Avenue will be maintained, as well as three out of the four crosswalks at the intersection.
71 Avenue and 83 Street Intersection: Right-in-right-out traffic configuration will be maintained for westbound and eastbound traffic at 71 Avenue and 83 Street. Please note, there are no left turns onto or off of 83 Street from 71 Avenue.
- A fully signalized intersection will be added during a later phase of work.
- Sidewalks located on the north and south sides of 71 Avenue will be maintained as well as the north-south crosswalk on the west side of 83 Street.
- There will be no crosswalk crossing 83 Street at 71 Avenue.
Vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic disruptions will vary by location. During this time please watch for, and observe, all traffic detours and direction of construction personnel. We appreciate your patience as we build the Valley Line LRT.
