LRT Elevator Closure

Noise, Notice, Sidewalk

June 2, 2020 – Starting on or around June 8, 2020, TransEd crews will be working on 102 Avenue just south of the Winspear. The ramp and stairs leading into the Winspear and current LRT elevator on the north side of 102 Avenue, just east of 99 Street, will be closed for approximately two weeks.

This work is to remove and replace the existing sidewalk. There will be noise associated with this work as crews will have to saw cut and break through the existing concrete. As much as possible, the noisiest work will occur during the day (7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.).

To accommodate this work, the public will be impacted in the following areas:

  • The ramp and the stairs leading into the Winspear and the existing LRT elevator will be closed.
  • The nearest access point to the LRT will be through City Hall.
  • There will be noise associated with this work, specifically the breaking of concrete. As much as possible, the loudest work will be limited to day time hours.
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained on the south side of 102 Avenue.

Vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic disruptions will vary by location. During this time please watch for, and observe, all traffic detours and direction of construction personnel.

TransEd is committed to following all City of Edmonton bylaws and regulations and has obtained an overnight roadwork permit so that work can take place during nighttime hours in order to minimize major daytime traffic disruptions. *City of Edmonton Bylaw C14600.
