February 1, 2020 – Starting on or about Monday, February 3 to Saturday, February 15, Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) train testing will be in progress on the new LRT tracks along 66 Street, between 34 Avenue and 51 Avenue. The train will move from the Gerry Wright Operations and Maintenance Facility (at 75 Street and 51 Avenue) and will return to the facility after each testing session. Testing will occur between 9 am and 3 pm each day.
Overhead wires will be electrified at ALL times, and trains will be powered directly from the live wires. There will be minimal traffic disruption; occasional train crossings at roadways/intersections that cross the LRT tracks.
FOR YOUR SAFETY:
- Always stay alert while on the road. Although the train testing might be a distraction please be mindful of your surroundings and other road users.
- Overhead wires will be electrified! Encountering live wires can result in serious injury/death. Do not fly kites, drones or remote-controlled planes near the wires.
- Do not jaywalk. Only cross at marked intersections or when permitted by a flag person.
