Jasper Avenue near 95 St. is now open for all lanes. Thank you for your patience while work was being completed in this area.


Update – September 25, 2016

Before 6:00 a.m. Monday, Jasper Avenue will re-open with one lane in each direction following a brief full closure to address a water main break which occurred on Saturday, September 24 about 6:00 p.m. Motorists are advised to proceed with care as steel plates will be present on the road for a few days until paving can be completed.

Jasper Avenue will remain open with one lane in each direction until approximately October 31, when work is completed.

During construction, please watch for, and observe, all traffic detours and instructions of work crews.

TransEd thanks the public for their patience and cooperation during this work. TransEd also appreciates the swift response from EPCOR and all the crews who worked throughout the weekend to deal with this situation quickly and efficiently so as to minimize the impact on the public.


Update – September 25, 2016

As a result of a water main break that occurred on Saturday, September 24, Jasper Avenue is completely closed between 95 St and 95A St.

Motorists and pedestrians are advised to avoid the area while crews assess the conditions. Updates will be provided as they are known, as will a projected date to reopen the area.

To detour:

Westbound on Jasper Avenue Turn north on 95 Street, turn left on 102A Avenue, 103 Avenue or 103A/104 Avenue.

Eastbound on Jasper Avenue: Turn left on 97 Street, turn right on 103A/104 Avenue and continue to Jasper Avenue.

Jasper Avenue to Grierson Hill: Turn south on 95A or 95 Street, go to 101 Avenue, where it connects with Grierson Hill.

During construction, please watch for, and observe, all traffic detours and instructions of work crews.

UPDATE – September 24, 2016

Today as part of construction on the Valley Line LRT, a water main was struck causing flooding in the area of Jasper Avenue between 95 Street and 95A Street.

As a result, Jasper Avenue will be completely closed in this area until at least mid-week (on or about September 28).

Motorists and pedestrians are advised to avoid the area while crews assess the conditions. Updates will be provided as they are known, as will a projected date to reopen the area.

During construction, please watch for, and observe, all traffic detours and instructions of work crews.

Update – September 20, 2016

Construction is underway on the 13.1 kilometre southeast leg of the Valley Line LRT.

Starting on or around September 24 until October 31, 2016, a single lane will be closed in each direction, north and south on 95 Street, between Jasper Avenue at the north end and Cameron Avenue at the south. Vehicles and pedestrians will still be able to use 95 Street, although people are advised to use caution when travelling through the construction area.

This work will take place Monday to Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., and on weekends from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

UPDATE – April 12, 2016

Before construction on the 13.1-kilometre southeast leg of the Valley Line LRT can begin this spring, TransEd must conduct investigative and preparatory work that may affect vehicle and pedestrian traffic along 95 St to the top of the river valley.

The work will include testing small-diameter boreholes in order to assess ground conditions along the LRT alignment. This work will take place between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. It is expected to be completed by May 22, 2016. Each site will be restored to its original condition after the work is completed.

Geotechnical testing to take place  along 95 Street to the top of the River Valley.

  • Fourteen locations will be on the road, using temporary lane closures (barricades). Flag persons will be on hand if needed.

Drivers using 95 Street south of Jasper Avenue are advised to take 101 Avenue or 101A  Avenue to minimize travel on 95 Street.

Traffic Disruption Notification- April 11 – Final


UPDATE – April 12, 2016

Before construction on the 13.1-kilometre southeast leg of the Valley Line LRT can begin this spring, TransEd must conduct investigative and preparatory work that may disrupt vehicle and pedestrian traffic on 102 Ave to the Jasper Ave intersection.Starting on or around April 18, 2016 geotechnical works will take place in the River Valley and the future tunnel portal area. The work will include testing small-diameter boreholes in order to assess ground conditions along the LRT alignment.

This work will take place between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. It is expected to be completed by May 22, 2016. Each site will be restored to its original condition after the work is completed.

Geotechnical testing to take place on 102 Avenue to the Jasper Avenue intersection.

  • Three test locations will be on the sidewalk on 102 Avenue. Pedestrians will not be impeded and the work area will be barricaded. Flag persons will be on hand if needed.
  • Two locations will be on the road, using temporary lane closures (barricades). Flag persons will be on hand if needed.

For drivers looking to avoid the work on 102 Avenue, we recommended taking Jasper Avenue, or take 95 Street north of Jasper Avenue to 103 Avenue.
