Bonnie Doon Traffic Circle Reconfiguration

Notice, Sidewalk, Vehicle

UPDATE:  Watch the animation of how the new configuration will work below.  It’s important to note that while this animation is accurate, there will be less lanes open while crews finish construction.

The changeover will take place beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday August 8, 2019 and there will be flaggers present to direct traffic.

TransEd is committed to following all City of Edmonton bylaws and regulations and has obtained an overnight roadwork permit so that work can take place during nighttime hours in order to minimize major daytime traffic disruptions. *City of Edmonton Bylaw C14600.

EDMONTON, AB – July 30, 2019 – Starting on or about August 8, 2019, the Bonnie Doon traffic circle lanes will shift toward an intersection configuration. This is similar to the final configuration for the area, which is expected to be completed later this year.

Motorists will not be able to make all of the same movements that are currently possible via the traffic circle.

Changes to traffic movements:

85 Street, northbound

Motorists travelling northbound on 85 Street, south of the intersection, can turn right onto 90 Avenue eastbound or can turn right onto 83 Street southbound. No other movements are possible.

83 Street, northbound

Motorists on 83 Street northbound can continue straight onto 85 Street north of the intersection, or they can turn left onto Connors Road, westbound. There is no right turn onto 90 Avenue from 83 street.

Traffic movements that are similar to those offered via the traffic circle:

Connors Road, eastbound

Motorists on Connors Road eastbound can turn right onto 85 Street south of the intersection or continue straight onto 90 Avenue. They can turn right onto 83 Street, southbound, or go left onto 85 Street north of the intersection.

90 Avenue, westbound

Motorists on 90 Avenue westbound can turn right onto 85 Street north of the intersection, continue straight onto Connors Road or turn left onto 83 Street.

85 Street, southbound

Motorists on 85 Street southbound can continue straight onto 83 Street, turn right onto Connors Road, or turn left onto 90 Avenue.

Pedestrian access will be maintained.

This will be a big change for motorists and we ask for everyone’s patience during the initial stages of this change. There will be flaggers present to help direct traffic.
