84 Avenue Overnight Partial Lane Closure

Noise, Notice, Vehicle

EDMONTON, AB – October 28, 2019 – On November 4 and 5, there will be a partial lane closure of the southbound outside lane at 84 Avenue and 83 Street during night hours (9 p.m.- 6 a.m.) to accommodate drainage work for the Valley Line LRT.

To accommodate this work, the public will be impacted in the following areas:

  • The southbound outside lane will be closed overnight only.
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained.

There will be noise associated with this work.  The first night will be the loudest. Crews will have to break through the concrete in order to get to the pipes underground. There will also be hydrovacing associated with this work. A hydrovac is a machine that allows crews to safely excavate around pipes and gas lines without the danger of hitting them. Hydrovacs can be quite loud but they are the best tool for safe excavation.

Once the crews have broken through the concrete, the work is much quieter as crews will be working on the drainage.

During this time, please watch for and follow all traffic detours and direction of construction personnel.

TransEd is committed to following all City of Edmonton bylaws and regulations and will obtain an overnight roadwork permit so that work can take place during nighttime hours in order to minimize major daytime traffic disruptions. *City of Edmonton Bylaw C14600.
