February 11, 2020 – Starting on or around February 18, 2020, TransEd crews will begin asphalt removals on 83 Street on the north side of the 76 Avenue intersection, to prepare the area for rail bed installation. To accommodate this work, the northbound lane on 83 Street will be closed from 76 Avenue to 77 Avenue and northbound traffic will be detoured to 81 Street.
This work will occur overnight, 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., for three nights.
To accommodate this work, the public will be impacted in the following areas:
- East/westbound traffic on 76 Avenue will be maintained.
- Northbound traffic will be detoured to 81 Street.
- Pedestrian access will be maintained.
There will be noise associated with the work. The removals phase is the loudest; once crews have broken through the asphalt and are in the concrete pouring phase, the work is much quieter.
TransEd is committed to following all City of Edmonton bylaws and regulations and has obtained an overnight roadwork permit so that work can take place during nighttime hours in order to minimize major daytime traffic disruptions. *City of Edmonton Bylaw C14600.
