100 Street and 102 Avenue Overnight Work
.EDMONTON, AB – June 20, 2018– Starting on or around June 26, 2018, there will be lanes closed on 100 Street at 102 Avenue to accomodate Valley Line LRT construction. Traffic will be shifted to one side of the road, leaving one lane of traffic in each direction.
There will be noise associated with this work, and TransEd is committed to doing everything possible to mitigate noise and vibrations during work in this area. In advance of this work we have moved our start time to 6:30 p.m. in an effort to finish the noisiest work before 11:00 p.m. However, there will still be some overnight noise as work continues through the night.
To accommodate this work, the public will be impacted in the following areas:
- Overnight lane closures on 100 Street at 102 Avenue.
- Overnight noise during work.
- Pedestrian access will be maintained.
Alternate Routes:
- To avoid any potential delays, motorists can use 97 Street or 101 Street as alternate routes.
These closures are to accommodate drainage work in the area, which is loudest during the first portion of the work. Crews will have to break through the concrete in order to get to the pipes underground. Once the first portion is over and crews have broken through the concrete, the work is much quieter. Nearby residents may also experience vibrations from tamping and other work.
Please note that overnight work is necessary to ensure adequate traffic and pedestrian flow and accessibility to the area including nearby buildings and parkades.
TransEd is committed to following all City of Edmonton bylaws and regulations and has obtained an overnight noise permit so that work can take place during nighttime hours in order to minimize major daytime traffic disruptions. *City of Edmonton Bylaw C14600.
Vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic disruptions will vary by location. During this time please watch for, and observe, all traffic detours and direction of construction personnel.
