Weed Control, Wagner Park, 83 Street, 85 Street

August 24, 2023 – Beginning about September 1, 2023, crews will be applying the weed spray Glyphosphate (a broad spectrum herbicide) along the Valley Line Southeast LRT route within Wagner Park and along 83 Street and 85 Street. This work will occur intermittently through September and October.  Work will occur during the daytime hours only, from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., weather permitting.

Although not generally harmful to people and pets, please watch for signage in sprayed areas and avoid walking in the area until it has dried (temperature and humidity will impact dry time). The public is strongly advised not to access newly planted grass areas or shrub beds.

TransEd has an Integrated Pest Management Plan with the goal to minimize the use of pesticides and to use them as a last resort after mechanical and other measures have been used or if deemed required by the Alberta Weed Control Act. All herbicide applications are reviewed by the City of Edmonton before spraying commences and notices are sent to the public. All applications must follow provincial and federal regulations and must utilize a licensed applicator to do so. Areas with exemptions are not sprayed.
